The role: Test Engineering Lead Google TV
At Google, our philosophy is build it, break it and then rebuild it better. That thinking is at the core of how we approach testing at Google. Unlike roles with similar names at the other companies, Test Engineers at Google aren't manual testers -- you write scripts to automate testing and create tools so developers can test their own code. As a Test Engineer, you navigate Google's massive codebase, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems. You'll have a huge impact on the quality of Google's growing suite of products and services.
Through your leadership and professional expertise, you manage a team or teams, plan project goals and lead the overall strategy for your group.
We’re defining and creating the Google experience for television, and bringing Google services to the TV screen. We are putting together the pieces to revolutionize how people use and perceive their TVs. Google TV aims to guide the user through the maze of content and services, wherever they come from. We’re looking for a very experienced, technical test lead to guide and grow the Google TV Seoul test team. Google TV testing is divided between Mountain View, California, USA and Seoul, Korea. The test team is responsible for building tools and writing test automation, as well as manual testing and bug investigation. The lead will be responsible for the technical mentoring of team members, and coordinating between the Seoul and Mountain View offices. TVs have been almost the same for more than 70 years. It's time that we re-invent them. Come join us writing TV history.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and grow the Seoul test team
* Coordinate with teams at other sites
* Write test automation and frameworks
* Provide technical guidance to test team members
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree. In lieu of degree, 4 years work experience in related field
* Must speak Korean and be able to understand english both written and verbally.
* Experience coding skill in Java, Python, or similar languages.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 8 years relevant work experience, including experience in building testing frameworks, tools and automation within a large scale enterprise environment.
* Deep knowledge of A/V, streaming video, consumer electronic devices and/or web testing.
* Strong development management or testing team leadership experience with a proven track record in scaling highly technical teams.
* Experience hiring, mentoring, and training manual and test automation engineers.
* Strong project management skills including experience managing in an agile / test driven environment
* Proven track record for high quality product delivery demonstrating a passion for technology.
