The role: Technical Lead/Manager
As a Tech Leads/Managers (TLMs) at Google you can own and drive technical projects and provide leadership for a group of engineers in an innovative and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects.
This position is *not* a pure management position; TLMs are expected to contribute technically to their project. Our interview process will emphasize technical skills and management/organizational skills equally.
Responsibilities:

* Share knowledge with more junior team members via a formal mentoring relationship, reviewing code, reviewing design docs, giving technical talks, teaching classes, or as a consultant on projects
* Work closely with product management to ensure we're building the best products
* Demonstrate problem solving and technical innovation capable of "rolling-up sleeves and getting hands dirty
* Manage a team of software engineers, including task planning and code reviews

Requirements:

* Computer Science degree strongly preferred
* At least 5 years of experience (including time working towards advanced degrees and/or experience)
* Strong programming capabilities in at least two of the following: Java, C , and Python
* Very technical and technologically savvy with excellent communication abilities
* Strong leader capable of motivating and energizing the very best software engineers, as well as gaining their respect.
* Substantial knowledge of UNIX/Linux or Windows environments
* Strong distributed systems and architecture knowledge, and experience with multi-tiered mission-critical systems preferred
